I guess it’s a system that releases a feel good neurotransmitter like dopamine. A detailed description of how it works is beyond my capacity. I can say that when we know a song well (i.e. our neurons have had time to train and rewire I guess) then the pleasure from the music is even more satisfying. The science and intricate explanation is def much more complicated. :)
